Moonlight Jazz

Another Ruby Gloom scene redraw this time from one of the best episode. I wanted to draw this scene in particular to focus on the townfolk.

I don’t see much artwork of these guys because well, They're ugly, and obviously intentionally supposed to be. However I personally enjoy drawing them because they offer a blank slate. The changes I’ve made to the Gloomsvillians, come from the idea that Ruby is supposed to be the normal girl of the house and therefore she resembles the rest of the town, Even in the show this is kind of true. most fanwork I see likes to fill the town with monsters and goblins and such but the thing is, besides the skeletunes everyone we see outside the mansion is human, albeit with a grotesque design.

In my adaption I’ve based the townsfolk on these ideas, They now all have the White skin and big dark eyes Ruby does, The only differences is the Hair which is always black, this is for a number reasons that I’ll go more in depth on another time.

Lastly it’s also worth pointing out that Skulls as well as the rest of the main cast are now definitely Preteens and teenagers and are therefore shorter than the adults.

Lore dump aside I’m all in all quite pleased with this piece, especially with the lighting, which I feel I’m improving with.
